Bible story continued in "faith"
I woke up one morning, ready to face the day ahead. I had school to go to in the morning, work in the afternoon, and then in the late evening I had a class again from 6:25 to 9:05pm. It was a full day for me. So I got up, got ready and was now ready to leave for the day. I got in my car and turn the key and.....nothing. The car wouldn't start. I tried again and the same thing ....nothing .
We take it for granted that our cars are going to start everyday. Basically we have faith in our cars that it is going to take us where we are going. Yet, we don't have that kind of faith in God.
Let's ask ourself, "What is faith" and what does it have to do with God.
Well, acccording to Hebrews 11:1..."Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
What exactly does this mean?
Simply put , faith is believing and having confidence in God and His will and plan for us.
Knowing the Father's will is knowing what he says and believing it.
Romans10:17..."faith comes by hearing , and hearing by the word of God.
So we can also say that faith is believing everything God says, and having confidence in His word.
According to Hebrews 11:2, it says,..."For by it (meaning faith), the elders obtained a good testimony.
1) Hebrews11:5, "By faith Enoch (Gen.5:22) was taken away so that he did not see death, and was not found, because God had taken him. For before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God." Here we clearly see that without faith it is impossible to please God.
2) "By faith, Noah, being devinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith." Can you see that righteousness and faith works together as well. We'll talk about righteousness another time.
note: The book of Hebrews, specifically chapter 11, is the definitive chapter on faith.
To sum this all up:
- Faith is believing what God says, based upon hearing or reading the words of God. (ROM.10:11)
- Faith is believing that God is the rewarder of those that diligently seek Him. (Heb.11:6)
- We must understand when the bible says in the Our Father Prayer, His will be done, on earth as it is in
heaven. (Mat.6:10)
True faith gives birth to something or else it is dead/barren.
I just wanted to finish off with this: "Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnare us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto (the Son of God), the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame , and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." (Heb.12:1,2)
The Son of God is next.
