The True Vine and The Branches, revised.
The true vine and the branches
Hello there, I'm glad you came back for more food.
I am doing a revision on the blog I did before on the true vine and the branches. My review will be more focused and to the point, which is what I felt it was lacking in the original.
I would like to start off with a quote from the Son of God from the book of John 14:1.
Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.
Why do we think that the Messiah told us this? Lets probe the bible a bit.... well the bible says that no man shall come to God except though his Son. (Jn.14:6) Therefore if we believe in God we must also believe in His Son.
Have you ever heard about the Vine and the branches? It is spoken of also in the book of John chapter 15. " I am the true vine (this is another title for the Son of God) and My Father is the vinedresser (vs 1). Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit (vs 2)."
If we understand the concept of growing trees we would understand this bible verse. The more you prune a tree that bears fruits, is the more fruitful that tree is going to be. In this case the vine is the Messiah and the branches are the people who believes in the Messiah and hence, follows Him.
John15:5 : "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing."
Most of us who believes in the Messiah will understand that without the Son of God in our lives we will be barren like a dried up tree and therefore not have God in us either.
"If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered." John 15:6
"If you keep my commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love." Jn.15:10
The Messiah stresses the fact that keeping the commandments is crucial in abiding in Him and loving Him and the heavenly Father. As the Messiah keeps His Father's commandment we should also keep his commandment to : "love one another as I have loved you." Jn12: 12
How did the Messiah love us? John is once again going to tell us in John 15:13
" Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends."
Didn't the Son of God demonstrate His love when He died for us and our sins, even when we weren't worthy of His love. This is real love for one another who believes and follows the Son Of God.
The Father in Heaven is great and He wants us to be fruitful. Thats why He gave us His Son.
We're talking agriculture now . Stay tuned for the Story of the olive tree and the olive branch.
