The Author and Finisher of Our Faith: Son Of God

The Son of God has many titles. First I do want to say that for me, I call Him, Yeshuah, just like in the movie, Passion of Christ by Mel Gibson. This is the name I know Him as, even before the movie.
Yeshuah is a Hebrew name (as He is Hebrew), which means: Salvation. As we know, He is our salvation.

More importantly, He is the Son of God, who was born of the Mary (Miriam), wife of Joseph, was crucified and died for our sins, and on the third day was raised by the holy spirit and now sits at the right hand of the Father in heaven.

As I was saying earlier, he has many titles because he represents so many different things for us.
Here are some of his titles:

  • Son of God: because the Bible said so (in many places). "For Go so loved the world that he gave his only begotten .son"....Jn. 3:16
  • Lamb of God: ..."Behold! The lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world." Jn.1:29
  • Salvation: "...Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." Acts 4:12
  • Shepherd: "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep." Jn.10:11
  • Author and finisher of our faith: "...looking on to Yeshuah, the author and finisher of our faith..." Heb.12:2

I believe if we understand His titles, we will get to know His character better.

By the way, this was just a taste. He has many more titles.

Stay tuned. Hope you are hungry!

Bible story continued in "faith"

I woke up one morning, ready to face the day ahead. I had school to go to in the morning, work in the afternoon, and then in the late evening I had a class again from 6:25 to 9:05pm. It was a full day for me. So I got up, got ready and was now ready to leave for the day. I got in my car and turn the key and.....nothing. The car wouldn't start. I tried again and the same thing ....nothing .

We take it for granted that our cars are going to start everyday. Basically we have faith in our cars that it is going to take us where we are going. Yet, we don't have that kind of faith in God.

Let's ask ourself, "What is faith" and what does it have to do with God.

Well, acccording to Hebrews 11:1..."Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
What exactly does this mean?
Simply put , faith is believing and having confidence in God and His will and plan for us.

Knowing the Father's will is knowing what he says and believing it.

Romans10:17..."faith comes by hearing , and hearing by the word of God.
So we can also say that faith is believing everything God says, and having confidence in His word.

According to Hebrews 11:2, it says,..."For by it (meaning faith), the elders obtained a good testimony.

1) Hebrews11:5, "By faith Enoch (Gen.5:22) was taken away so that he did not see death, and was not found, because God had taken him. For before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God." Here we clearly see that without faith it is impossible to please God.

2) "By faith, Noah, being devinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith." Can you see that righteousness and faith works together as well. We'll talk about righteousness another time.
note: The book of Hebrews, specifically chapter 11, is the definitive chapter on faith.

To sum this all up:
- Faith is believing what God says, based upon hearing or reading the words of God. (ROM.10:11)
- Faith is believing that God is the rewarder of those that diligently seek Him. (Heb.11:6)
- We must understand when the bible says in the Our Father Prayer, His will be done, on earth as it is in
heaven. (Mat.6:10)

True faith gives birth to something or else it is dead/barren.

I just wanted to finish off with this: "Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnare us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto (the Son of God), the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame , and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." (Heb.12:1,2)

The Son of God is next.

The Bible Story

The Bible is the greatest story ever told . If you agree with this you are at the right place now. This is the only book which can tell you the end from the beginning.

-Did you know that the word Bible means book, actually, collection of books? And that there are 66 books contained in the Bible.

Lets break down the 66 books: 1. First we have the Old Testament which has39 books therein.

- 5 from the books of Moses which is also called the Torah
- 21 books of the prophets
- and 13 books of the writings
by the way, Torah simply means laws/instructions.

2. Then we have the New Testament which contains 27 books:

- Gospels = 4
- Book of Acts =1
- Pauline Epistles = 13
- General Epistles = 8
- Revelations = 1 ( this is the book that scares some people).

The bible was written by men , who were divinely inspired by God. Those who understand the concept of faith know what I'm talking about. We'll discuss that next.
